Bista Lab

We are based at the Senckenberg Research Institute and Natural History Museum and is part of the Department of Terrestrial Zoology. See here for team website: Senckenberg/ meta-OMICS.

The group was established initially through the Center for Translational Biodiversity Genomics (TBG) in Frankfurt, which was a LOEWE excellence center supported by the government of Hesse. Since the beginning of 2025 we have been fully integrated in Senckenberg ABL.

We work on a wide range of Meta-OMICS and Biodiversity Genomics projects, using high-throughput sequencing for biodiversity monitoring and whole genome data for the study of genomic adaptations to extreme environments.

For more details on ongoing and past research see Research tab or get in touch with the PI (iliana.bista@senckenberg.de)

We are looking for new people to join our lab. If you are a PostDoc or PhD student working on Biodiversity Genomics or Biomonitoring get in touch to discuss currently available job opportunities. We are also considering positions for Masters or Bachelor’s level projects and welcome international collaborartions.
